Chapter Philanthropy

Our Sigma Kappa founders left us with a lasting impression of the importance of philanthropy. Service is one of Sigma Kappa's founding values, and as such, members of Sigma Kappa support multiple philanthropic causes.

Ultra Violet Campaign

In the fall semester, Sigma Kappa gathers IFC, CPA, MGC, and NPHC members to participate in events throughout the week to raise unrestricted dollars to support the PULSE Annual Fund, which includes all of the Sigma Kappa Foundation’s leadership, educational and philanthropic initiatives. At the end of our fundraising week, each year in attempt to support this campaign, we host one main event to continue to raise funds and support this initative. In 2019, we held an event called "Sigma Karnival" which included a volleyball tournament and a multitude of carnival games that each organization was able to participate in! Each year, we strive to find new and exciting ways to host a successful Ultra Violet Week and are excited for the upcoming 2020 week!

Walk to End Alzheimer's

As part of our Ultra Violet Campaign, Sigma Kappa at FAU participates in the Walk to End Alzheimer's at Mizner Park in Boca Raton. Leading up to the walk, individual participants raise money to help fund research and awareness for Alzheimer's disease. Each year, the sisters of Kappa Phi invite all fraternities and sorority members from every council to attend and support this cause. The day of the walk, the sisters of Sigma Kappa joined by members of additional participating sororities and fraternities come together to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Our goal is to increase awareness each year during the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

Gerontology

Each year, the sisters of Sigma Kappa at Florida Atlantic are encouraged to visit the Volen Center in Boca Raton to spend time and brighten the day of the residents here. Previously, we have delivered Valentine's Day cards to the residents at this facility and hope to support the efforts of Gerontology Research by continuing to visit this center.

Sigma Kappa Dodgeball

Each spring semester, the sisters of Sigma Kappa host an annual dodgeball tournament in effort to support funding and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association. At this event, members of IFC, CPA, MGC, and NPHC are able to fundraise money and create a team to compete in a dodgeball tournament. The tournament is our celebratory event at the end of the week where members of every organization are able to continute to raise funds and celebrate the efforts made to support the Alzheimer's Association. The winners of our dodgeball competition this year were the brothers or Sigma Phi Epsilon and the winners of our overall week were the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi!
